Sherlock Holmes Investigates

The adventure of the speckled band.

"Yes, there were lots of small changes. They were all made at the samet time."

"They were very interesting changes -bell-ropes that don't work and ventilators which do not ventilate. Now, if you agree, Miss Stoner, we will look at Dr Royston's room."

Dr. Grimesby Roylott's room was larger than his step-daughter's room. But this room also did not have a lot of furniture. All we could see were a small bed, some books on a bookshelf, an armchair beside the bed, a plain wooden chair against the wall, a round table, and a large iron safe. Holmes walked slowly round and examined everything with very great interest.

"What's in here?" he asked, looking at the safe.
