If we take a bus
it will be cheaper
If we take a taxi
it will be quicker
Shall we take
a bus or a taxi?
A first conditional sentence consists of two clauses, an "if" clause and a "result" clause:
if clause |
if + subject + verb in the simple present tense
if it rains
|
result clause |
subject + will + verb
we will go to the cinema.

The first conditional is used to talk about things which are possible in the present or the future - things which may happen:
For example:
If the train is on time we will be in London for lunch
(the train is likely to be on time therefore we will be in London in time for lunch)
