Mrs Westenra believes that people who walk in their sleep always go out on the roofs of houses and along the edges of cliffs. Then suddenly they wake up and fall off. They always die with with a horrible scream that echoes all over the place.

Of course, poor Mrs Westenra is worried about Lucy. She told me that her husband, (who was Lucy's father) did the same thing. If there was no-one to stop him, he used to get up in the night, dress himself and go out.

Lucy will get married in the autumn. She is already planning her dresses and how her house will be arranged. I know how she feels about preparing to be married, because I feel the same way. However, Jonathan and I will have to start married life very simply, for we will not have much money.
