Along with all these things - numerous as they were, the little doctor added another which was even more important - he was indefatigable in paying the most unremitting and devoted attention to a little old widow, whose rich dress and rich jewellery showed that she might be a useful source of extra income to a person who did not have much money.
Both Mr Tupman and his companion had been staring at the doctor and the widow for some time, when the stranger finally spoke.
'The old girl seems to have lots of money. The doctor is a bit pompous. I've an idea - not a bad idea, good fun in fact' . Hearing these words, Mr Tupman looked inquisitively at his companion's face. 'I'll dance with the widow,' said the stranger.
'Who is she?' asked Mr Tupman, to which the stranger replied 'Don't know. I never saw her in all my life - but I'll do better than the doctor - watch me.'
