The ghost's jewels

As she did this, the moon came out from behind a cloud. It filled the little churchyard with silver moonlight. Then a nightingale began to sing from some distant trees. Virginia remembered that this was exactly how the ghost had described the Garden of Death. Her eyes filled up with tears, and she didn't speak to anyone all the way home.

The next morning Mr Otis spoke to Lord Canterville before he went back to London. He wanted to talk about the jewels which the ghost had given to Virginia. They were truly magnificent, especially a necklace of precious stones which had been made in Venice.
