How to ask and give explanations.

Look at the examples below of three different ways to ask for explanations.

'I don't understand...'

I don't understand why I have to do the dishes today.

Because I cooked the supper.

'Can you tell me...'

Can you tell me why you took my book?

The reason is that I didn't think you would mind.

'Does this mean that..?'

Does this mean that I have to cook today?
