Saying Sorry.


Look at these situations and then try to choose the right answers from the choices which follow.

1. You accidentally spill your friend's coffee .
You say:
a. Oops! I'll get you another one.
b. Excuse me please, I am sorry.
c. I really can't say how sorry I am

2. You accidentally run over your friend's cat
You say:
a. Oops! I'll get you another one.
b. Excuse me please, I am sorry.

3. You complain to the person writing you a parking ticket.
She says:
a. I'm sorry, but you shouldn't park here
b. I am terribly sorry for you
c. Please excuse the inconvenience.

4. You have to tell your friend the result of a football game.
You say:
a. I'm sorry for you. Your team lost
b. I'm afraid that your team lost.

5. You strongly disagree with what someone is saying.
You say:

6. You have dialled a wrong number.
You tell the person who answers:
a. Oh, wrong number, sorry, goodbye

7. Your doctor's appointment has been cancelled unexpectedly
The secretary says:

8. You suddenly choke on your food while having lunch with the boss.
