This is the first part of Bram Stoker's Dracula taken from the 1897 volume. We have changed language which is out of date, and simplified some complex constructions, but the text is still very close to the original book. Vocabulary which you need to understand in the text has been underlined. You should try to get the meaning from the rest of the sentence, but if this fails, the definition is given at the bottom of the page. Remember that Dracula is a horror novel, and is not suitable for young children.
