The Pickwick Papers

The reading here is taken from The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens. Some parts have been changed to make it more suitable for intermediate readers. Many of the changes are speech and idioms that are not used in modern English and which are also difficult to understand. When you look at the words, try to work out for yourself what they mean, but if you can't you wll see that some words have been underlined and you can find the definition given in English at the bottom of the page. If you still find the text difficult, try reading it first at the elementary level.
