The Jungle book

This is a specially adapted version of the first story of The Jungle Book for advanced students. Some of Kipling's specifically Victorian language has been changed, but it is close to the original. Try to understand the vocabulary in context. If that fails, some words in the text are underlined. A definition of these words is given below in English. If you still find the text difficult, try reading it first at the intermediate level (level 2).
